Kim, Ji Hee. Unfolded (Quilt). In Business or Pleasure, curated by Candytuft. Form/Design Centre, Malmö, Sweden, September 20, 2024.
Work, personal interests, heritage — what truly defines a persons identity?
Ji Hee Kim’s piece Unfolded is a deep dive into identity in textile form, blending personal passion with professional craft. Kim reimagines an architectural drawing on a traditional Korean Bojagi (보자기|), pulling back the curtain on her structured world of architecture to reveal softer, more intricate layers beneath. Kim uses sheer fabric panels to blur the boundaries between these worlds, inviting us to witness how roles overlap, shift, and intertwine. Is she an architect or an artist? Perhaps both, or something entirely different.
